  • The Small intestine connects the stomach to the large intestine.
  • Length of the small intestine can be up to 6 m (20 ft).
  • About 90 % of what we eat is assimilated (enters the blood) in the small intestine.

  • The small intestine has three layers called, serosa, muscle layer and the mucosa layer.

  • The food stays in the mouth for about 1 minute, 2-4 hours in the stomach and for 1-4 hours in small intestines.
