Buddhist pilgrimage site

- The place is popular because of the fact that Queen Mayadevi gave birth to Siddhartha Gautama, who late became Gautama Buddha.
- Buddha lived until here till the age of 29.

- Since 1997, the place is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
